Based on some relatively panicked videos I saw on YouTube, I just tried out Google Stitch. I just wanted to share my thoughts.
First, though, here’s a screenshot of when I asked it to extract my design system and design a new blog post format:

Will Google Stitch Kill UX/UI Design Jobs?
Stitch will surely change UX/UI Designer jobs, but the career path is safe for those who evolve.
Just think about Figma. Before it existed, the whole web/app design process was a lot more tedious. Then we were able to collaboratively work on interactive designs that shared relevant info between designers, developers, and other stakeholders.
It actually created more jobs for UX/UI designers.
The important thing is to focus on learning the new tools, and putting them into workflows.
How Will Stitch Make More UX/UI Roles?
Stitch can create more designer roles because it allows designers to increase their impact.
Most of my professional background is at small or early-stage organizations, and they typically have resources that are stretched very thin. When you don’t have enough time and money to do something, it gets in the way of growth.
Think of it this way, I may be part of a team that’s doing the marketing for a new product launch. If it’s a relatively small product, we have to put some pretty tight limits on what we create. I would love to build an immersive landing page for every launch, but that’s not in the cards. BUT, if vibe-designing can help us whip up something quickly, then maybe I can!
And if that product launch performs better than expected, it makes a case for doing more of it. Eventually, that makes the case for more team members helping do that.
Do I Like Stitch?
Short answer: yes.
However, I’ve only played around with it for about 10 minutes so far, so I can’t give a detailed answer.
Are There Better Tools Than Stitch?
Maybe. Probably.
I hear about new tools every day, and most of them seem to improve (or disappear) every time I look for them. It’s a challenge to keep up, but I’m trying to be more active with it now. Let me know if you have any favorites.
Vibe Work Will Eventually Just Be Called Work
Here’s my bold prediction: We’re all excited about “vibe-coding,” “vibe-designing,” and “vibe-whatever” right now. But in a few years, that’ll just be how we do things.
Photographers had a period where they had to learn digital cameras and digital editing, and now those are skills that toddlers have. And while you wouldn’t want a toddler as your wedding photographer, you also wouldn’t want a photographer who didn’t know how to use a digital camera.
Just like we have more photographers than ever before, all of these changes give you opportunities in the future. If you’re not afraid to keep up.
